If you want something real, welcome.

I began writing a memoir about my run across America for my mother in the winter of 2018. Both of my parents had suddenly died one month apart, and my second child was just months old. My ability to care about what was expected of me took a hard nose dive, and what emerged in its place was a love of writing and an affection for being real—the messiness, the nuances, the painful and difficult circumstances that come from living in the shadow of chronic illness—all this came to light in a new way in the wake of such abrupt grief and change.

I’ve since become less interested in presenting only my shiny parts. Rather, I wish to share the whole, complicated view.

Subscribing to my newsletter supports this pursuit—my writing, the quest to publish my book and my ability to encourage greatness (however you wish to define that for yourself) despite it all. I sincerely appreciate your support—it means everything to me. And if you happen to think this is crap, that’s okay too. I’m not for everyone.

Updates in real-time!

I’ve navigated big dreams and uncharted territory, but I’ve been notorious for solving challenges that arise on my own. Now, I am committed to bringing the journey alive in real time—both the triumphant moments and challenges, so we can live the process together, alongside one another. Each weekly entry of my posts go directly to your inbox! And, of course, you can always find them on my website at ashleymschneider.com.
